Have you vacationed on the island before? Palm Island a.k.a. Don Pedro Island, is a barrier island 7 miles long between Sarasota and Ft. Myers on the Gulf coast with sugar-sand beaches, beautiful harbors and lagoons, great fishing and shelling only accessible by a short 10 minute car ferry or private boat. Our beaches are some of the most pristine and quiet in all of coastal Florida. There are no high rises blocking your Gulf views, unpaved sandy roads, and a relaxed "Old Florida" atmosphere. There is one restaurant called the Rum Bay that serves lunch and dinner. The car ferry runs continually from 6:30 am until 10:00 pm from Sunday through Thursday and until 11:00 pm Friday and 12:00 midnight Saturday. You drive your car onto the ferry and then directly to your vacation rental home. It's a very special place to vacation. We have kayak rentals and golf cart rentals for your use during your vacation. All of our properties on Palm Island require a ferry ride to get there. One round trip on the ferry for car and passengers costs $55. We had a great time at this home and enjoyed all that it has to offer. It is huge and has everything you can need. Bring food and drink with you as there isn't much on the island. The house has anything you can imagine to make any meal. Maintenance company was very helpful and responsive too. The pool is beautiful and includes a jacuzzi. Wish we were still there!

Jim was very responsive and helpful with the only difficulties we had. Barbara was also helpful in being sure we had the golf carts available. The house is very spacious which made it a great spot for our family to have a gathering. The only problems we had was the oven not working which caused us to modify our cooking plans and the bottom rack in the dishwasher was broken making the bottom of the washer nearly useless. Jim was great in getting us a small replacement oven. These problems were certainly not overwhelming. A helpful idea would be to include more of the amenities that were available in the house in the listing so people might plan travel differently like the presence of beach chairs, pool toys, and the separate freezer downstairs. Thanks again, we had a great time

1. If you love quiet beaches and sleepy tropical islands come to Palm Island! Sure the $55 ferry ride is a bit much, but do a little preplanning. This place is worth it!
2. If you come to Palm Island rent with Jim from Palm Island Stays. They are a great group who are there to make sure your stay is a great one.
3. If you rent from Jim you have to try out "Beauty on the Island".This house has all the room and supplies to keep even a large family happy. We just returned from a two week stay and had a wonderful time. First off the kitchen had almost anything you could think of needing including two separate drawers of silverware, 3 crockpots, 6 different sets of dishes, a blender, hand mixer, glasses and stemware galore! There is also an extra standup freezer on the ground floor and a dorm size "beer fridge" in the ground floor apartment. There is also a huge supply of beach towels throughout the house, along with about six beach chairs, and a nice collection of beach toys. The house has a very large gas grill and Jim is very good about keeping you in good supply of propane. The house has two bedrooms on the living level with a jack and jill bathroom between. There is also a powder room on that level. The loft contains a huge living area with two different seating areas along with a king bed area and a two twin bed area. There is also a large bathroom and walk in closet on that level. Outside there is a large wrap around deck with a bar and two different sets of patio tables and chairs. The view from the deck is beautiful and we found ourselves eating all our meals out there. The pool was sunny most of the day and warmed up nicely throughout the afternoon. The view of the harbor from the deck and pool is amazing!
4. Get a golf cart! We had so much fun touring around the island in the golf cart. We rented ours from Heather Stout. She is listed in the guest guide on the Palm Island Stays webpage. She had our golf cart charged up and waiting for us when we arrived at our house. She also has a concierge grocery service if you would like your groceries delivered. At the time of our visit Palm Island Resort was not renting golf carts to anyone other then their resort guests. The resort does rent bikes though for $10 a day or $50 a week.
5. The beach was wonderful and uncrowded. No high rise condos or wall to wall beach chairs. Some mornings we hardly saw a handful of people. The water had a pretty shade of turquoise contrasting between the deep water and sandbars. There were nice selections of shells scattered about. It was our kind of beach! We can't wait for our return trip!

Beauty on The Island is the perfect name for this house. My family and I enjoyed our vacation and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The house was furnished with everything we needed and more. We loved the Infinity pool during the day and the hot tub at night. The location is private and so relaxing. I will definitely be coming back soon and share this experience with my friends and family.

The house was fantastic. We loved the spaciousness and layout. It was perfect for our family of 8. Plenty of room for everyone, offering great gathering spaces and private retreats as well. Without a doubt the most well stocked kitchen for a rental property! We enjoyed the pool and peaceful views from the porch. Kayaking and paddle boarding the intercoastal was a great way to while away the afternoon. The kids loved the golf cart rides and seeing a big turtle cross the road was a huge hit. We loved the relaxed atmosphere of Palm Island and the people we met were so friendly and helpful. What a great group of Islanders! Will definitely be back.

Hi, the house was awesome and the help with the reservation and our needs on a shirt notice were fantastic. Couple of things. Main is the dishwasher leaked on multiple occasions. Also, the kitchen sink faucet needs an adjustment or replacement. Ignition on the grill didn't work but we found a lighter and that got 2 of the burners working fine. Lastly, the pool lights didn't seem to work.
None of these things impacted our stay and we had an awesome time. The house was set up great. The kitchen was filled with everything we needed, which is not always the case on rentals.
The island is fantastic and we were lucky with awesome weather. The pool could not have worked better. We'd come back in an instant!

This house was amazing! There was plenty of room for everyone. The pool was definitely the fun spot for both adults and kids! Jim popped in the first day to make sure we got in and everything was ok which was nice! We will be renting from them again and will recommend them to our friends!
